Surviving Cancer Tips from Cancer Survivor

Battling Cancer 1992

I was lying in Johor Specialist Hospital on 13-6-02 after my lung operation and the results was that one out of the 3 lymph nodes that the surgeon has taken out, near my left lobe of my lung, has CANCER.
Pastor Dickman visited me that day and having told him about the CANCER, he prayed over me.

I was not too sure what he was praying about but after some time, I felt something like a mild electricity current going through my body.
The "electricity" made my body warm and I started to sweat, even in the air-con of the ward I was in.

Suddenly, I felt a kind of "peace", so nice and so comfortable that I want to remain in that state forever.

At that time, I was not aware of what was going on around me. The peace was all I wanted. I did not want anything else.

As my body was warm from the "electricity" going through and as I was sweating profusely, I started to cry, with tears in my eyes that I just could not control. It was tears of joy, of peace, of happiness. It started dripping down to my bed but I was still in a state of peace which I still did not want to get out of it - I wished I could remain in that stage forever.

Then, I heard a voice that was so soft, yet so clear saying to me and calling me by my name,
" James, do not worry anymore. You are healed."

More tears kept flowing down and I was totally drenched. Then, the peace I was in suddenly left and I realized that Pastor Dicknam, my daughter(Josephine), Calvin and I were all still holding our hands and still praying.

Time passed so fast and I did not realized how long I was in that state of "peace".
PRAISE the LORD

for I know I am now healed and no one can take away the healing from me.
I am now still going through a few rounds of chemotherapy in Singapore but deep inside me I know and believe that the LORD wants me to go through some "inconveniences" to make me learn a thing or two about patience and about life.

HE

does everything for the good of us - we might not know why

HE
wants me to go through the chemotherapy but I accept

HIS

Ways of doing things. I just got to trust
him and believe that

 HE

Knows what is best for me and my family.
My cancer marker cells level has now returned to NORMAL after 5 rounds of treatment, and I have 3more to go.

PRAISE the LORD

For his touch and miraculous healing that only
HE

can give.

 Dear Brother James

I am very happy to hear that you are speaking about Jesus especially to the
lost and spiritually blinded, keep up the good FIGHT.

Always remember that JESUS healed you and no one can take away that healing.

Brother James, can you please send me a photo and a written/typed testimony
on how God healed you of cancer.
I want to put up in the church the testimonies of all the people God healed
through the ministry. This is to stir the faith of people to believe that
 our God heals.

Just last Thursday night, during our revival and healing meeting, a lady who
is a lawyer gave her testimony of how God healed her of a bad leg problem
that she had for a long time and also a eye problem that the doctor said
that cannot be medically cured during one of the earlier meetings.

In fact just this afternoon, a lady (retired teacher-non believer) came to see
me because she has heard how God is using me as a vessel to bring healing to
sicknesses. This ladies’ daughter went to New Zealand to do medicine and this
girl accepted the Lord there but something happen there. She started to
hear voices, cannot concentrate on her studies, no appetite and became very
judgmental. In fact she failed her exam there and had to come back and
continue in IMU in Seremban. The mum said that her daughter all the while
from primary school right up to Form Five she always was in the top three
positions. WE had a very good session, there was deliverance and I counseled her .

She seems much better and I told the mother about Jesus and salvation.
They will come regularly for prayers and counseling.

Brother, God is using this place to preach/teach His word and also has a
 house of healing/ miracles/ signs

 Praise the Lord

Also I have been trying to get in touch with your friend but every time I could not.

Anyway I will keep on trying.

Brother James, the church services will start on 1st Sept 9.30 to 2.00
I am praying for the musical instruments urgently, the guitars(lead, bass), a
key board, drums, p.a. system, mikes, speakers, pulpit, stands, curtain for
the front part of the church, bibles. As you know I am a man living by faith
and I am not asking for money for myself but the items for the church.
Please see if there are any of your friends what can donate or contribute for
 the items

USEFUL TIPS FOR CANCER SURVIVAL

I am glad I survived and very well too because of a very positive attitude towards the CANCER and would like to share my experiences with you. I am sure you will be very positive too.

1. Tell the whole world about your disease - do not try to hide this fact from anybody. You do    not have to shoulder the problem all by yourself by hiding. There is nothing sinful or ashamed by having cancer for no one knows exactly what causes cancer. The causes are multi-factorial. By telling everyone, you will feel the burden so much lighter when friends show their concern, care and love for you.

2. Do not feel that you are inferior or second class just because you have cancer. You are a NORMAL person. Do the things that you normally do (even though you may not be as active as before ). This is important as your self esteem will improve and this will make you FEEL good and improve your immune system. Live life as normal as before you get cancer.

3. Look at the big picture. God has a better plan for you which is definately good. Our minds are too 'small' to understand. Accept the cancer as a test of faith that you fully trust in the Almighty.

4. Pray to God and have full faith that God knows what is best – even though humanly you might not be able to understand what is going on. And say "thank you" to show that what you asked for is given already.

5. Drink a lot of fruit juices (antioxidants), take green tea tablets and shark liver oil ( squalene ) to boost your immune system which is the best way to fight off cancer cells.

6. Do not 'pantang'. That is ' this cannot eat, that cannot eat'. Eat everything in moderation like you do before you get cancer. Check with your doctor and listen to the one doctor treating you. Listen to him/her alone and to no one else. Others may try to give you advice or tips with good intentions but it may not always be good or beneficial.

7. Live life to the fullest each day and treat the cancer like something of little significance or better still treat the cancer like ' dirt ' i.e. Cancer is so limited for it can't cripple LOVE, it can't shatter HOPE.

8. Visualization – Whilst undergoing chemotherapy, you can visualize your every cancer cells being soaked with the cancer drugs and they are dying or the cancer cells running out of your skin as they fear the drugs. Whatever you visualize, it does not matter – let your imagination runs wild. It helps as you feel better for in your mind you have less cancer cells now.

9. Be grateful for the years you have lived - a good family, a good circle of friends, etc. Consider those who have gone way before you. They did not have such a good life as you. Be thankful always and not comparing yourself with others helps. Each one have his/her own life to live and know that you have lived your life to the fullest so far is important.

10. Give it your best fight - even though you may not make it eventually, know that your family and friends will acknowledge you as a FIGHTER and they can learn from you as someone who never gives up. They will be proud of you and your courage and your legacy lives on. Never never give up without giving it your best shot!!

11. Celebrate LIFE – By this, I mean celebrating every small successes no matter how insignificant it may seem to others. Take small steps at any one time. If you are going through 10 rounds of chemotherapy, divide the total rounds into 3 stages. Say, 1st stage – 3 rounds, 2nd stage – 3 rounds and 3rd stage – 4 rounds. Celebrate after going through the 1st stage ( 3 rounds ) by rewarding yourself with whatever you fancy – it can be a night out with friends and loved ones for a fine dining, an ice cream treat, a jog in the park with friends or all alone, etc. This will make you feel good and the encouragement will spur on and motivate you to do the things which you normally will not imagine you can achieve.

With Love,

JAMES HO.

   Dear All,

I wrote to all of you on 18/5/03 regarding my CANCER treatment and now I would like to share 2
aspects of the CANCER journey so far:

1) There seemed to be some confusion as to RADIATION THERAPHY and CHEMOTHERAPHY. Heh! My previous 2 cents worth, after this explanation, hopefully can be increased to 3 cents!

I have to go through 25 round of RADIATION (5 weeks from Mon - Fri; Sat/Sun off).

Radiation alone takes 10 - 15 mins with little or no side effects and now I am on the 2nd week.

I have to go thru' 3 rounds of CHEMOTHERAPHY (1st week - 3rd week).

Chemotherapy is by drips, like blood transfusions, and each whole session takes 5 hours.

Now I am on the 2nd round. So on the day when chemo is combined with radiation, the effects are bad - giddiness, headache, vomiting -like feeling, constipation - like feeling, no appetite and you just feel lousy and terrible.
I have only 1 more combined round to go.He!He!

2) The other aspect is even more dramatic!!!

On Tue 26/8/03 while my wife, Shirley and I were returning from S'pore after the 2
nd
. Round of combined Chemo/Radiation, we boarded a taxi from the JB-S'pore Taxi Terminal in Jalan Trus,JB at about 6.30pm and it was pouring cats and dogs. Feeling terrible from the after effects of the 'combo’, We just wanted to get home and have a good rest.

We hopped on to a JB taxi and the driver was a Muslim Malay man about fortysomething.

As usual we chatted about his taxi business, his children, education, etc.We came to understand that he was really a man of GOD as he gave praise and honor to God each time by his total reliance on GOD in all his aspects of business, children and education by saying phrases like 'Insyaallah'.etc which means' GOD willing'and raising his hands to his face.

You see, we were so at peace with this fine Muslim Malay gentleman that the whole car was full of
GOD'S atmosphere as we talked about our lives and the relationship that  links all to God.

Just as we were about to reached our destination, he asked whether we have a remote -controlled
gate so that he could drive us straight into the house without getting wet. We told him we have
none as we just parked our car just by the road side in front of our friend's house.........it was
still pouring and I lifted my hands a little and saying to GOD: GOD I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THE HEAVY RAIN OUTSIDE, I AM FEELING SO LOUSY AND PLEASE DO SOMETHING................suddenly as
we were about to alight from the taxi, there seemed to be this 20-25 yards radius around the taxi
and our car that just 'DRIZZLED' whereas outside the perimeter of this 20-25 yards radius, it was
still pouring.......WOH! What a sight to behold! We wished we can be there forever!

Slowly, we got into our car, wiped off some little drops of water from our heads and as we headed
to the 20-25 yards perimeter. On reaching that 'perimeter’, the back portion of the then 'no
rain/drizzling' area was engulfed with pouring rain...........what can we say? We can only open
our mouths in amazement, wonder and awe.

I squeezed my wife's hand and told her what had happened. She replied: 'GOD is with you'.......what a profound, short and powerful statement coming from a woman of GOD!!!!

You see, in the midst of the storms of my life’s journey with CANCER, GOD still has time to show us his
RAINBOW
by HIS MIRACLES to show that HE is with us even in our darkest moments and will never abandon us.
If we STILL care to look at all the good things HE has given us inspite our own difficulties/problems, then LIFE is really still worth living, isn’t it?............DO WE HAVE THE TIME TO NOTICE GOD'S MIRACLES?

GOD HAS ALL THE TIME TO SHOW US HIS MIRACLES.

Take care and I will keep you posted as I continue with my journey. GOD bless.
